Hands-Only CPR
Learning Hands-Only CPR is important because it significantly increases a person’s chance of surviving sudden cardiac arrest, especially in the critical minutes before emergency responders arrive. Each year, more than 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the United States, and without immediate help, about 90% of victims do not survive. When bystanders perform CPR, survival rates can double or even triple compared to situations where no CPR is given. Research shows that survival chances drop by about 10% for every minute CPR is delayed, which is why quick action matters.
Please Note: Hands-Only CPR does not result in a certification.

Why Learn Hands-Only CPR?
It is important to learn Hands-Only CPR because it can double or triple a person’s chance of survival during sudden cardiac arrest. Survival decreases by about 10% for every minute CPR is delayed, and many emergencies happen before help arrives. Hands-Only CPR is simple, effective, and has been shown to work as well as traditional CPR in the first few minutes. Learning it prepares you to confidently step in and potentially save someone’s life. Hands-Only CPR is especially effective because it is simple and easy to remember—requiring only chest compressions—which makes people more likely to step in and help. Studies have found that Hands-Only CPR can be as effective as traditional CPR with rescue breaths in the first few minutes of an adult cardiac arrest.
